Long weekends 2026: Manali and Himachal trip calendar
Plan October–December 2026 holidays with exact leave combinations, realistic travel buffers and Manali tour ideas for short Himalayan breaks.

The next useful breaks: October to December 2026
For a Saturday–Sunday workweek, the strongest remaining 2026 opportunities are Dussehra on Tuesday, 20 October; Guru Nanak Jayanti on Tuesday, 24 November; and Christmas on Friday, 25 December. These are calendar-planning windows, not announced Trailopedia departures. Your employer or school must confirm which holidays apply.
Dussehra: 17–20 October with one day of leave
Take Monday, 19 October off, alongside your weekend and the Tuesday Dussehra holiday, to create a four-day window. A Manali base works better than trying to cross several high passes in a short break. Include your outward and return journeys when deciding how many nights you can spend in the valley.
For an overnight journey from Delhi, check the actual pickup, arrival and return timings before requesting leave. A late departure on the final evening can mean reaching home the following morning; that is not a four-day door-to-door trip unless your schedule allows it.
Diwali: 8 November is Sunday, not an automatic long weekend
Diwali falls on Sunday, 8 November 2026. Saturday–Sunday workers do not gain an extra weekday from that date alone. Monday, 9 November, is Govardhan Puja in some holiday lists, but it is not a universal day off. Check your workplace calendar before planning 7–9 November; otherwise take leave for Monday if you want three days.
For families, allow time for both celebrations and the journey. Choose a written stay-and-transport proposal rather than assuming an advertised festive package includes meals, transfers or a special celebration.
Guru Nanak Jayanti: 21–24 November with one day of leave
With Tuesday, 24 November observed by your workplace, taking Monday, 23 November off creates four days from Saturday to Tuesday. This is a useful window for a slower Manali stay. Manali–Kasol–Sissu combines more road travel, so compare the actual itinerary and stay locations before adding it to a short break.
Christmas: 25–27 December without extra leave
Christmas Day is Friday, 25 December. If your workplace observes it and you have weekends off, 25–27 December gives you three days. Two nights in Manali can be a starting point, but transport from your home city may require extra time. Snowfall, snow activities and higher road access are not guaranteed by the date.
Match the tour to your available days
For two nights and a compact stay, start with the Manali weekend tour. For a broader route, compare Manali–Kasol–Sissu only when your total travel allowance fits the saved itinerary. Spiti, Ladakh, Zanskar and remote pilgrimage routes should not be presented as quick late-autumn weekend alternatives without a route-specific access review.
Before paying, confirm the number of nights, arrival and departure day, room sharing, included meals, transport, taxes, cancellation terms and the price for your actual dates. Call or WhatsApp Trailopedia on 8627046108 with your starting city, travel window and group size.
Holiday sources and planning assumptions
Dates checked on 6 October 2026 against the 2026 government holiday calendar published by U R Rao Satellite Centre, Department of Space: https://www.ursc.gov.in/holidays.jsp and the Controller of Communication Accounts holiday list: https://cgca.gov.in/ccadl/list-of-holiday . Leave combinations are calculated for Saturday–Sunday weekends; regional, school and employer calendars can differ. Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October has already passed and is not included as an upcoming opportunity.
